Reading Your Analytics Dashboard
Understand what the Activly analytics dashboard is telling you about your notifications' performance.
Key metrics explained
The Activly analytics dashboard gives you a clear picture of how your notifications are performing. Here is what each metric means:
- Views — the total number of times a notification was displayed to a visitor. A single visitor can generate multiple views if they see more than one notification during their session.
- Clicks — how many times a visitor clicked on a notification. Clicks indicate that the notification was compelling enough to prompt action.
- CTR (Click-Through Rate) — clicks divided by views, expressed as a percentage. This is the primary signal of notification relevance and quality. A strong benchmark for purchase notifications is 2–5%.
- Unique visitors exposed — the number of individual visitors who saw at least one notification during the selected time period. This tells you how much of your traffic is actually seeing your social proof.
- Conversion rate — the percentage of visitors who made a purchase after seeing a notification. This metric is only available when you have a Shopify or WooCommerce integration connected. See Understanding Conversion Tracking for details.
Time periods
Use the date range selector in the top right of the dashboard to filter your data:
- Last 7 days
- Last 30 days
- Last 90 days
- Custom range — pick any start and end date
Comparing periods side by side (for example, this month vs last month) is a good way to spot trends after making changes to your notification copy or targeting.
Notification breakdown
The notification breakdown table shows performance for each individual notification you have created. Columns include views, clicks, and CTR per notification.
Use this view to identify your top performer — the notification with the highest CTR. Once you know which one works best, you can use it as the benchmark for testing variations, or apply similar copy and design choices to underperforming notifications.
Page breakdown
The page breakdown shows which URLs on your site are generating the most notification views. High-traffic pages with low CTR are good candidates for improving notification targeting or adjusting display rules. If a key conversion page — such as a pricing or product page — is not appearing in the list, check your display settings to ensure notifications are enabled there.
What good looks like
Use these benchmarks to interpret your results:
- CTR above 2% — solid performance. Your notifications are relevant to the audience seeing them and compelling enough to drive clicks.
- CTR below 1% — worth investigating. Try testing different notification copy, adjusting the display position, or refining your targeting rules to show notifications on more relevant pages.
- High views, low CTR — the notification is displaying frequently but not resonating. This usually means the copy is too generic, the timing is off, or the notification is appearing on pages where it is not contextually relevant.
- Low views overall — check that the Activly script is installed and detected, and that your display rules are not too restrictive. See Installation Status for diagnostic steps.
